Stay for a Lifestyle

Greetings from Mazatlan,

It is raining today, the first time in two and one half months.  My husband Dale and I are here for a week of vacation in the sun on the beach.  We are staying in a house with two patio gardens and views of the Pacific Ocean, it is situated in the old section of Mazatlan.   Historico Centro is like Salida´s national historic district. There are ancient buildings to be renovated and a preservation commission to regulate.  Not all falling down places are for sale, some are family properties going back hundreds of years.   Prices are similar to ours for properties already fixed up - about $150 a square foot.  It is shocking to see the name ¨Salida¨on so many buildings and inside restaurants.  It means exit and is pronounced Sa lee dah.   Lots of Americans and Canadians have relocated here, living is cheap, $USD4 for desayuno of eggs, beef, handmade tortillas, beans.  A latte grande is $USD2.  TV is in English with Spanish subtitles.  The sun is breaking through - hasta la vista!  Leslie Walker, on location in Mexico.
