Music (and more) in the Mountains
October 6th, 2008 1:03 PM

What a great day!  Sunday, I joined up with the South Central Racing Club for the Ladies Bike Ride, which is laughable because there are more men than women.  I thought it would be too cold, but everyone warmed up after the Leslie Walker Pinon Hills Memorial Climb.  I told the other riders that reports of my death are greatly exaggerated.  For any of you who want to do this:  start at the stop sign on CR 156 before the rr tracks, travel as fast as you can to the top of the hill just past Sioux Street and to the Pinon Hills Subdivision sign.  Time to beat:  men - 8:42; women 9:30.  My time is so slow, maybe I have died!

Then picked tomatoes out of my own garden patch!  I asked the little girl next door to join me, she took a long time to appear, but it was because she wanted all her clothes to be red, so she'd look like a tomato.  Can't blame her!

The piece de resistance!  The Walden Chamber Music Society concert at the Steamplant.  Bravo!  Maria Schleuning, violinist, is a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and joined Jo Boatright, pianist, a Grammy nominee.  They played Beethoven, Sarasate and Brahams to a 90% crowd and a standing ovation.  I especially liked it because as a volunteer bartender for the event, my admission was free!

Home to a fire, my aging dog, Estes, and hubby, Dale.

Historic Downtown Salida Buildings for Lease or for Sale!
October 7th, 2008 1:10 PM

Hi! This is Katie Davis! I’m a realtor with Salida Realty and here to announce a new service available from our office-LEASING. Since we are located right in heart of downtown, it a natural progression that we should take interest and action in growing our wonderful downtown.

I think that we all agree that our quaint mountain town is a great place to live and play. We would like to help make it an even more fabulous place work and/or to grow your own business.

I am the leasing agent for several buildings on First Street that are ripe for your creativity and vision! Some buildings are finished; others are ready for your custom office, retail space, restaurant, café, bistro, rental car shop, gourmet food and wine shop, tavern, outdoor piazza, microbrewery and more. How about bringing a Boutique Hotel to historic downtown? The sky truly is the limit.

Commercial real estate is my passion and having completed a number of commercial real estate courses, it is something for which I am well qualified.
